On Wednesday morning at around 9:30, the Chauri Chaura Express from Gorakhpur to Kanpur Anwarganj stopped at platform number two of Bharwari railway station. At this time, smoke started filling the bogie from under D1 (General coach 1).
Seeing the smoke, there was panic among the passengers, women in the bogie started screaming. Then the RPF post in-charge present on the spot and the staff on duty at the station rushed to extinguish the fire three bogies behind the train engine with the help of fire tender. Smoke was coming out due to brake banding in the bogie (brake block getting jammed while applying brake). The fire was immediately brought under control.
